Cambodia : Day 2

It was our second day in Cambodia, and we were heading to Angkor Wat!!! I was so excited because this was the main purpose of visiting Cambodia. Our journey started as early as 10 am (not so early huh). Some of my friends left earlier as they wanted to see the sunrise.

There was an entrance fee of USD 20 if you wanted to enter the archaeological site for one day, and they will give you a pass that you'll have to show when you enter the temples. For more info on the prices of the passes, you can click here.

We decided to go to a few temples. We started with, of course, Angkor Wat. The pathway to Angkor Wat was so long. I think it was about a 5-10 minutes walk, depending on how fast you walk.

Then, we went to another temple, the locals call Bayon. Bayon is unique because if you look closely, the pillars are actually the faces of Jayavarman VII. Four faces facing four directions.

I can't exactly remember how many temples we went in, or what their name was. I just put in the significant and interesting ones here. The next temple that I liked is the Ta Prohm. Now this is actually the temple that Angelina Jolie acted in Tomb Raiders. But unfortunately, this is one of the temples in the Angkor Wat temple complex that is undergoing deterioration. This mainly because there are trees growing on top of the temples and the roots are breaking the structure apart.

By the end of the day, we've visited a lot of temples, and the last stop was a temple at the tip of a hill, to watch the sunset. But, there were clouds and we couldn't locate the sun. But the view was breathtaking.

And then we went back to the guest house, very tired but very satisfied. We're so glad that we choose the tuk-tuk to visit the temple complex. There were other options such as bicycling from town to the temple complex, but I think it was far more tiring, maybe that's for people that are more adventurous and fit.

Ah, we had our dinner in a Malaysian cuisine restaurant. Of all places, we chose a Malaysian restaurant, mainly because it is a halal restaurant. It is called D'Wau. Details on D'Wau can be found here.
